My Journey into Animation

Hey there. I’m a student right now with the goal of getting into the animation field. Right now  I am at Mt. Sierra College in Monrovia, CA trying to get a BA in Visual Effects and Digital Media. At the same time, I am working freelance as a graphic designer/motion graphics artist/animatic animator for a small firm that focuses on documentary films.

I am setting up this blog as a way to track my work inside and outside of school. When I started at Mt. Sierra, I had already had a few years of experience working with media. The classes I have taken have taught me a lot about design which I needed but the focus isn’t exactly where I want it to be. Since it would be costly in time and money to switch programs at this point, I am taking matters into my own hands. I am done just waiting to learn what I am going to need to know from my classes.

Over a year before taking the first class on Maya, I started on my own and have built a couple of high res models that I have been told are good although slightly incomplete. Now I have an idea for a short animated film that I want to complete before I graduate as a way of showing what I can do and most importantly, finding out exactly what I want to do. It is a learning process for me and perhaps what I learn along the way could become useful to others looking to do the same.
