So I know that it has been a while since I posted the animation of the character walking up the large mech. I wanted to take a short break and get some feedback before jumping back into it. Later that week I found out about the Malcolm rig that AnimSchool is letting people download to use. I was originally thinking that I would find a new use but now I plan to use it and go back to redo the character climbing. The reason behind that is that it became apparent, after some feedback, that what I was doing was not completely clear. Without a character with a face, it probably looked like he paused before climbing so the two were not connected.
Unfortunately I have not gotten around to doing just that yet. School has started up again or me which means the workload is beginning to increase. I still hold by what I have said many times before and that is that the work isn’t hard, it is just time consuming. My flash class is just tedious while my After Effects class is a refresh of things I know all too well. It is just that I have to go through all the lecture videos to make sure I do everything in each assignment that is required and my instructor for both those classes does not like to get right to the point.
My class on Maya though has been rather nice. It revolves all around modeling with the first 4 weeks being focused on NURBs, the 3 weeks after being polygons, and then subdivs after that. The major NURBs project was to build a bicycle which you can see below. I think it has turned out pretty well and pretty accurate even though it is only about 80-90% complete. It lacks the technical components like the chain, breaks, and gear shifters.
That is about it for now. I will try to be a bit more consistent with my posts when I can.
